Cummings Construction Corporation was incorporated in North Carolina on February 21, 1995. The company is a design build, commercial general contractor holding unlimited general contractor licenses in North Carolina and South Carolina.

In 2000, Cummings Construction Corporation was recognized as the 16th fastest growing privately owned business in the Southern Piedmont region by the Charlotte Business Journal.  In 2002, the company was a finalist for the Ethics in Business Award presented by the Charlotte Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. CECO Building Systems, a national pre-engineered building manufacturer, recognized Cummings Construction Corporation for its cumulative sales volume in 2001. Metal Construction News recognized the company as one of its top metal builders in 2000 and 2001.
